touching on their imagination and love of
creativity as it relates to dance. All children will be
excited to be part of this innovative program developed
by Karin Hobby and utilised by many aspiring teachers in
the London area who have worked and trained under her.
Enhance your child’s world with music, co-ordination,
focus, movement and imagination, social skills and
intellectual development. 45 min. classes.

supportive, creative and nurturing environment.

Dance! Ballet based invoking the imagination,
drama and storytelling through dance. Fun and active but
requiring focus and co-operation. Children work
individually, in partners and in groups. with patterning, rhythms, dance
styles and music. Growing as dancers and individuals,
these children develop a thorough love of dance and
movement. Full yr

Enjoyable, fun approach. Foundation of dance technique
is established. Children’s imagination, creativity
and love of movement continues to be explored and
enriched. Children love this level!!
Dance Examinations are optional. Some
students at this level may also want to join tap or
modern or jazz or all three additional styles of dance!

Grades 1- 5 Ballet
Age 8 and up

Ages 8 and up. Students enjoy
developing
dance technique now including barre, dance solos and group ballet
combinations and dances.
These levels also introduce character dance requiring character shoes and
skirts. New students will quickly catch up if
they are just beginning dance at this level. Grade 1
students may attend once or twice weekly. Grade 2
and all exam students study twice
weekly. Many students also enjoy studying tap, jazz and
or modern at this level.
Grades 3-5 Ballet
(1 hr classes)

Ages 10 and up (approx) More exciting and more challenging! New students
will be directed into appropriate levels. Performance,
ballet skills, solo and group dances.
Twice weekly attendance is encouraged.
Examinations, of course, are optional and no student is
ever held back because he/she did not do the exam! All
exam students study 2 classes per week.

Senior Grades
Ballet

Grade 6-7
(1.25 hour classes)
For students at
least 12 years of age and up. A beautiful series of enchainments and dances exploring free work in addition
to ballet and character.
This is a much enjoyed and loved syllabus
designed for both students wanting to go on in dance and
those wishing to pursue it purely for enjoyment. Many
students also study the vocational levels concurrently
or on alternate years. Examinations are optional but for
those wishing to go on to achieve the Grade 8 Award and
Membership within the Royal Academy of Dance these exams
are necessary.
Grade 8 Award
(1 hour classes) Tues 7pm
Thurs 6:30
This Award is the highest Grade
level achievement and opens the door for students to
become student members of the Academy. This series of
beautiful and engaging solo works performed by each
student develops each young adult in their artistry and
performance skills.

Vocational
Grades

|
These are designed for students
wishing to pursue some form of dance in a vocational
capacity whether
teaching, performing,
post secondary study or who just want to get
serious about their dancing!! These qualifications are
recognized internationally but require a high level of
performance, hard work and discipline to get there!
Many dancers will also train in modern, tap, and or
jazz.
Intermediate
Foundation/Teen and Intermediate Ballet(1.25 hour
classes)
Ages 11 and up.

Pointe work is introduced at the
Inter Foundation level for those students training 3
times weekly and continues throughout these grades. The
Inter Foundation exam is optional but the Intermediate
must be taken if students wish to take subsequent exams.
It is school policy that no student will be held back
because they did not take the exam. Everyone who loves
to dance should be given that option!
Students working toward
examinations must study a minimum of 3 times per week.
Non exam students must attend 2 classes per week to
sustain the learning and physical training. Pointe work
students must train 3 times per week to maintain the
strength required for safe pointe work!
Advanced
1 and 2
Ballet (1.5 hour
classes)
Mon 6:30 Wed 7:15 Sat 11am
Pointe work becomes more of a component of these levels
and the demands of training intensify. Lovely work. The
Advanced Foundation exam is optional but the next 2 must
be taken in sequence. These students may train 2-3 times
weekly but all those considering examinations must
attend 4 classes per week.
